No, directors are automatically granted access through their TNPAL credentials to record internally delivered agency-based in-service training. These in-service trainings are TrainTN approved. Non-agency-based training delivered by external trainers, however, must be TrainTN approved to be recognized by the Department beginning November 1, 2021. This includes directors who deliver training to agencies other than their own are considered external trainers and would need to receive TrainTN approval to be recognized by the Department effective November 1, 2021.

Attendance for TrainTN approved trainers, in-service, and events may be recorded by visiting www.traintn.org, selecting the Login tab and following the appropriate link. Credentials for logging in to record attendance are sent out the week after being approved as the director of your sites on TNPAL, so if you have already been added as the director of your program in TNPAL, you should have credentials for TrainTN waiting in your inbox. If you are not able to find them, please be sure you are checking the inbox of the email you used to register with TNPAL – many people use their personal email address for this.  If you are not able to locate the credentials, please email traintn@utk.edu to request that they be re-sent.

Please email traintn@utk.edu to request a password reset for recording in-service attendance.

Trainings delivered internally by a licensed agency (whether by a director or a director’s designee) to its employees are considered agency-based in-service training. In-service trainings are TrainTN approved. Trainings delivered by external trainers are considered non-agency-based who must be TrainTN approved to be recognized by the Department beginning November 1, 2021.

If internally delivered as an agency-based in-service training for your employees, training completion would simply need to be recorded in TrainTN — and it will automatically be reflected in the training record of those recorded as having completed the training.

TrainTN offers a unique application for local, regional, and national conferences. To receive TrainTN approval, conferences submit their application attesting alignment with standards and best practices.

TrainTN is actively engaging national, large-scale, and online training resources to become TrainTN approved training agencies to broaden the quality and quantity of approved training recognized by the Department. CPR certification organizations, such as Red Cross or the American Heart Association do not need to apply to TrainTN.
